EPISODE NINE:
THE BUILDERS
by Edward Teach
Chaos reigned supreme at
Fawlty Rovers this week as we find Basil bumbling around in a state
of shock after having a run in with his evil twin. Most of his guests
were more than happy to point out the amazing similarities with his
doppleganger, who had come down for the weekend from Mansfield. Right
down to his unerring ability to excuse himself from the variety of
mishaps that seem to befall his hotel, the northern Basil variant
had Fawlty Rovers' real McCoy in a flap. The only discernible difference
noticed by Basil was that he had a more colourful vocabulary, that
left Miss Gatsby and Miss Tibbs with ears burning like a heath fire,
not to mention a good relationship with the wife. As Sybil gave Basil
yet another lecture for failing to satisfy the guests over dinner,
Basil could only look on jealously as his gangly evil twin back-slapped
his way out of Fawlty Rovers with a smiling trouble and strife on
his arm. However, the guests of their hotel, Basil noted with a sense
of satisfaction, were as disgruntled as those at Fawlty Rovers.
Unbeknown to Basil most of the regular guests were sitting back and
enjoying the chaos of a ludicrous meal in the green room as staff
fell over one another and ran into each other with hilarious results.
Sybil has confirmed that O'Reilly will be continuing his efforts
to improve the look of the place and gleefully reports that he has
even agreed to pay to have his logo on the staff uniforms again.
But currently O'Reilly continues work on a Youth Hostel to the North
of town. Basil is forever telling his guests that he will be using
new young and talented staff from there and Miss Tibbs and Miss Gatsby
are getting rather excited at the prospect of them swanning around
the green room. This can only be a good thing for those that are
in the prime of their life, but they are left frustrated as week
in week out Basil changes his story. The virile young men he promises
are kept under wraps and out of sight like a wet dream...
