Gasheads.com
has been closely following the planning
application for the redevelopment of the North Stand and has
had correspondence with the Council’s planning team throughout.
We have learnt today that the application will be further delayed because more
information is required from Rovers. The Council have said that
the application is now likely to be considered at a provisionally
agreed date of 15th June.
This may seem
like a further setback for Rovers but it could prove to
be a blessing in disguise for the club – so long
as the delay doesn’t impinge on the Football
Foundation grant. As stated in a
recent article on this site, the application was due to be heard
just days before the Council elections and the club could therefore
have been subjected to some voting by Councillors who had an
eye on their seat rather than the actual qualities
of the application. It has been stated by the club that
building will not start until early 2006 anyway so the delay
shouldn’t cause any delay in the building process if the
application is successful.
Oh, and a final comment - we guess our "Vote Yes for the Future
of Rovers" posters won't be needed now!
