EPISODE
ELEVEN: GOURMET DAY
by Edward Teach
Some rubbishy dim ones arrived for a visit to Fawlty Rovers this week
allowing Basil to pull the wool over everyones eyes about the state
the hotel is really in. Their comedic shenanigans even prompted Manuel
to skip around the green room like days of old. The swan ran riot
around the place and flung plates up towards the ceiling while Polly
looked on forlornly and fingered her for sale sign that feels like
an anvil around her neck. She keeps looking up at the roof for any
sign of reconciliation with Basil. But in a moment of evil genius
he has hidden in the pantry by the green room to scream and wildly
gesture encouragement to his staff and avoid her altogether.
The regulars head back to their rooms satisfied that there
are hotels out there that are run worse than Basil's. They delighted in the welcome
return of Lily Savage for her mealtime entertainment and the moosehead which
continues to adorn the wall.
The question is will Basil be able
to keep them on? Or will Sybil finally emerge from the darkened room
with the finances and tell him - He has to give the moosehead back
to his Gloucestershire Aunt, get rid of the swan, ship Polly off
to the florist, give Manuel to his Evil twin in Mansfield, pack off
one of his most exciting young staff to London, tighten his purse
strings and give up gambling. Kiss and make up with Terry the Chef,
stay off the roof, pull his socks up and tell Lily Savage that he
can't afford her fees and find another way of entertaining his regular
guests? |
