EPISODE TWO:
THE KIPPER AND THE CORPSE
by Edward Teach
The episode opens with Basil trying
to organise the best way of dealing with a bunch of kippers coming
to Fawlty Rovers from a grim northern fishing town. They are a reasonable
bunch but not really something that Basil's staff can't deal with
on a good day. Trouble is Basil is trying hard to remember what
it's like having a good day. The shrill words of Sybil still ringing
in his ears. "You
bought 'the dog' but you have to get rid of the corpse that's hanging around
the training ground if you want to keep him. You can't keep them both."
Basil has to weigh up the pro's and cons of keeping 'the dog' or letting it
go play in the road and hold onto the corpse instead. The corpse was originally
none too happy with his lot at Fawlty Rovers but now seems impossible to shift.
Manuel isn't proving too helpful as he has other things looming before him.
Basil may have to give him a good hard slap before the kippers arrive to take
up residence in the large green room. Polly isn't helping either as he is still
in a strop about being left out of last weeks plans.
Basil knows he has to produce some quality service to ensure he has enough
funds to pay O'Reilly for improvements to Fawlty Rovers in the summer.
Meanwhile everyone else is totally consumed with finding out what the hell
happened to Episode 1.
